MONARCH TRAIL
Requirements:
6-9 days, approximately 50 miles from Onion Valley west over
Kearsarge Pass. Then South over Forester Pass, following the John
Muir Trail to Trails Crest. (Mt. Whitn
ey may be part of this trip also).
Continue from Trail Crest to Whitney Portal. The route may be
reversed, but is more strenuous.
1. Meet and comply with all General Requirements.
2. Outing Leader or another 21 year old adult going on trip must
have completed the Basic Backpack Awareness Course.
3. Each participant, including adults, must complete a minimum of
three (3) conditioning overnight backpacking trips, including one
at or near the altitude of the pr
oposed trip, within three months
prior to departing on the trek.
4. Outing Leader/Unit submit an itinerary showing hike plan, roster,
Pack list and menu, to your Council's High Adventure Team for
approval.
